Lochshell Engineering is looking to recruit an experienced Civils Foreman/woman to join their growing business. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, safely, and within budget. Lochshell Engineering’s head office is based in Wick, Caithness however this position will require you to travel throughout Scotland to work on construction projects. The work's location will be dependant on current and upcoming projects.

Job Summary
Lochshell Engineering is looking for a Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer with an
interest in the civil/structural/marine sectors and technical design background to
support the team on multi-disciplinary projects.
In this role, you will be working in a steelwork fabrication, civils, and marine
environment. Alongside the Senior Engineer, you will be involved in the technical
delivery of a wide range of projects with key clients including Local Authorities and
other public bodies as well as private companies mainly in Scotland but with some
opportunities in the wider UK.
In addition to undertaking technical work, the role will see you assist in developing
and/or issuing key project deliverables. These deliverables typically will include
calculations, surveys, reports, technical notes, and CAD drawings.
You may be based in the Lochshell Engineering offices in Wick or be based on-site,
potentially at any location within the UK. Flexibility to travel will form a part of the
role.
The Role
- Liaise with site teams and assist with supervision of construction works
projects and sub-Contractors on-site, whilst meeting all Health and Safety
requirements and legislation such as CDM 2015;
- Assist in the preparation, issue, and successful completion of deliverables;
- Produce calculations to a high standard of quality manually and checking
electronically using current computer software (including but not limited to
AutoCAD, MS Office, Rhinoceros, and others);
- Assist in the preparation of contract documents for procurement of sub-
contractors and administer contracts whilst acting as the Principal Contractor
and when engaging sub-Contractors;
- Assist in the preparation and issuing of documentation to support site works,
construction phase plans, quality plans, waste management plans, risk
assessments, and method statements. Review and comment upon all relevant
documentation;
- Communication and liaison with Clients, their Representatives and sub-
Contractors to ensure a clear understanding of scope and deliverables; and
- Assist in the preparation of tenders (programme, cost estimate, resourcing,
preparation of written quality/technical input, etc).
Preferred Requirements
Skills and Experience
- Experience with and administration of Contracts (NEC3/4 ECC, Short Form,
ICC Minor Works etc)
- Good understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and other design
standards and use of best practice in the maritime environment;
- Good understanding of CDM – Principal/sub-Contractor Roles, Safety in
Design etc;
- Working in multi-disciplinary teams;
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English;
- Excellent skills with design software listed above and in use of MS Office suite
of software, particularly in use of Excel and Project;
- Work to deadlines and good time management.
Required Qualifications
BSc / BEng qualified in Civil or Structural engineering.
Other requirements
Full UK driving licence (preferably clean)
